Second. . .persons who are members of the Cathedral who are seeking a deeper faith.
Third. . .persons seeking reaffirmation of faith.

Nursery and Toddler Atrium

Mission of the Nursery Program:
To provide a safe, caring environment for children to play interactively, read stories, and work with developmentally appropriate activities that encourage creativity and love of God and creation.

Mission of our Toddler Atrium Program: This is an ever-growing extension of the Nursery Program, meant to begin to introduce our littlest ones to the Montessori-based Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program that they will move into as they get older.

Time Commitment:
Your choice, one, a few, or all Sunday mornings a month.

Benefits from volunteering:
Caring for and growing with our youngest and most precious children. Reading, praying, playing, and wondering about God’s gifts, sharing the love and comfort of Jesus with the littlest in our midst.

What's included?
In collaboration with Canon Friedman and nursery staff, Nursery and Toddler Atrium volunteers are offered times to serve when they are needed on Sunday mornings (to supplement our staff team). Volunteers will have an orientation and introduction to our spaces and our best practices for the safety, health, and wellness of our children.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Ministry

Mission:
To nurture the spiritual life of each child by fostering a deep, personal relationship with God through a Montessori-based approach. We are committed to providing a sacred and prepared environment where children can explore, wonder, and grow in their understanding of the Good Shepherd. We believe that even the youngest among us possess an innate connection to the Divine, and our role is to guide them as they express and deepen this relationship. Through prayer, song, and hands-on materials rooted in biblical teachings and the rhythms of the church year, we support each child’s journey in faith, allowing them to experience God’s love at their own pace.

Time Commitment:
Your choice, one, a few, or all Sunday mornings a month.

Benefits from volunteering:
Growing in your own relationship with God, the Good Shepherd, and our parish family. Nurturing your own prayer life, your participation and love of the sacraments and liturgy, and knowledge and connection with the Word of God.

What's included?
There are many ways to volunteer in the CGS program. One can simply volunteer their time as a parent and friend on Sunday mornings, though you may also feel called and invited (in consultation with our clergy) to be trained as a catechist (or facilitator) in this beautiful work. In collaboration with Canon Friedman, our CGS volunteers are organized into teams in three levels and atria, offered times to serve when they are needed on Sunday mornings to help and assist our catechists. Volunteers will have an orientation and introduction to our spaces and materials, as well as best practices for the safety, health, and wellness of our children.

Cultural Arts

Mission:
To enable the Nashville community to experience God’s blessing of art and beauty through outstanding performances in the Cathedral’s sacred space throughout the year.

Time Commitment:
Varies but typically 1 – 4 hours per event/per month.  We work with the Friends of the Cathedral on mass mailings during the summer months, and host events and receptions throughout the year.

Benefits from volunteering:
Participate in programs that bring hundreds of non-parishioners into the church throughout the year, creating great goodwill and friendship for the Cathedral.  Many of the committee members have formed fast friendships over the years of working together. Receptions typically follow each event and provide an opportunity to meet and thank the artists, and welcome  Nashvillians from all walks of life to the Cathedral.

What is included:
Support for the parish and Friends of the Cathedral mailings during the summer, creation of and printing of the annual brochure.  Several committee meetings where in person or by Zoom we develop programs for the upcoming season, and hosting (welcoming, ushering, setting up receptions, and cleaning up) for each event.

Contact:
Jack Hill or Susan Dupont for more information.  We are actively seeking new members and welcome anyone from the church community and would be glad to discuss further.  There is a place for everyone here. And a job for you!

The Isaac Project

Isaac Project Phases Two - Five
Mission:

The purpose of The Isaac Project is to quicken institutional awareness around practices, actions, ministries, and systems that have, either intentionally or implicitly, fostered racism and inhibited the comprehensive pursuit of holiness, righteousness, and the justice of God by the people, Vestry, and clergy of Christ Church Cathedral.

Time Commitment:
Will vary with the work of each phase, currently approximately 3-10 hours/month.

Benefits from volunteering:
Christ Church Cathedral is intent on becoming a spiritual home to the multi-cultural, multi-ethnic population that now resides in middle Tennessee. We say becoming because we know that we are in the process of becoming such a place but we are still on our way. Essential to that process is telling Christ Church’s history in a way that names the prejudices of her past and confesses sins of complicity. This is what the early phases of The Isaac Project have been and continue to be focused on. The ultimate goal, though, is that this work will lead to reformation, reconciliation, and new and renewed ministry at Christ Church Cathedral. You will contribute to this renewal with the work of each Phase.

What's included?
Isaac Project Phase Two has scheduled the Service of Repentance and Penance for December 5, 2024 and this is a culminating event for this phase. The Phase Three committee work will entail strengthening and broadening community and congregational relationships begun with Phase Two. These relationships will guide the Church with their recommendations to make the changes Christ Church Cathedral has committed to with the Isaac Project.
