The Isaac Project in partnership with Nashville Sites presents a Civil Rights Tour of Nashville in conjunction with Nashville Sites and with special guest guide, Elliott Robinson, program specialist Nashville Public Library’s Civil Rights Room. We will embark on a day full of discussion, reflection, and meeting friends along the major stops in our city that were pivotal to the Civil Rights Movement. Transportation is provided on a coach bus with on and off stops between 8:45-12:30. Space is limited so please reserve your spot soon. Suggested donation of $20 to cover transportation fee is welcome but not mandatory. REGISTER HERE.
THE ITINERARY OF THE DAY
Our tour begins at First Baptist Church Capitol Hill, meeting in their chapel for prayer, introductions and a presentation. We will proceed onto the coach bus to American Baptist College, stopping to hear about this theological school’s place in history. We continue following the journey of the Civil Rights Movement going by TSU, the site of Z. Alexander Looby’s home, Meharry Medical College, St. Anselm’s, and then stopping for our last significant site of the day, Fisk University. We will be welcomed by Fisk staff and hear about this HBCU’s significant role in Nashville Civil Rights. The tour will then head back to First Baptist for closing discussions and prayer.
