Mission:
To prepare everything needed in the chancel for the parish’s Sunday and weekday liturgies and special services such as weddings, funerals, and diocesan events.
Time Commitment:
1-4 hours per month.
Benefits from volunteering:
You’ll gain a deeper understanding of the liturgical practices and the significance behind various elements of the service. Knowing that your work supports the worship life of the church can bring a deep sense of satisfaction and fulfillment.
What's included?
Setting Up for Services:
The altar guild prepares the altar for worship, which includes arranging items like the chalice, paten, and ciborium (used in communion), as well as placing the appropriate linens, candles, and altar cloths.
Placement of the Elements:
Members prepare the bread and wine for the Eucharist, ensuring they are properly placed on the altar before the service.
Seasonal Decorations:
The altar guild changes altar linens, banners, and other decorations according to the liturgical season (e.g., Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter).
Experienced guild members provide training to new volunteers.

Benefits from volunteering:
Knowing that you are enhancing the beauty of our liturgy as it seeks to give glory to God. Getting to know each other through training and working in larger groups on feast day projects. Participating in occasional social occasions with fellow guild members.

Mission:
To read the Word of God aloud at public worship with understanding and clarity, and to lead the Prayers of the People.
Time Commitment:
Lectors generally serve 8-10 Sundays a year, with opportunities to serve at special liturgies during Advent, Lent, and Holy Week.
Benefits from volunteering:
As we prepare to read, we are drawn closer to the Holy Scriptures as we work to dicern and convey their meaning.
What’s included?
Lectors read the lessons from the Old and New Testaments prescribed in the Revised Common Lectionary, as well as lead the Prayers of the People. They are expected to prepare and practice during the week leading up to their turn at the lectern.
Requirements:
Lectors should be comfortable reading aloud in public. Training is available by appointment and at occasional group training sessions.

To assist the Cathedral Clergy at the Holy Eucharist in distributing the element of wine, and to help the worship experience of the congregation by our own reverence and service.
Time Commitment:
1-4 hours per month.
Benefits from volunteering:
There is a peace and fulfilment knowing you are participating in the holy act of celebrating the Eucharist where the church and the body of Christ become one.
What's included?
You will be trained with others becoming Chalice Bearers, briefly covering the history and theology of serving at the altar, and also in detail with the mechanics of serving with the chalice. Then you will be scheduled to serve once or twice a month at the service you normally attend.
