Room In The Inn Volunteers

  • Christ Church Cathedral (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Each year, Christ Church Cathedral takes part in the Winter Shelter Program for Room In The Inn. This year, we will be hosting at the Room In The Inn campus located at 703 Drexel St. On Wednesdays, we will welcome 15 men experiencing homelessness on the second floor of the main building. As always, we will share a meal, enjoy fellowship, and provide a warm place to sleep.

We’re looking for volunteers to help prepare and serve dinner for our guests. We need an entree for 15 people, as well as sides, salad, desserts, and bread. Additionally, we require 15 sack lunches.

We are also seeking innkeepers. New innkeepers will stay overnight with our guests, mentored by an experienced innkeeper. Responsibilities include sharing dinner, engaging in conversation, and setting out breakfast snacks.

If you’re bringing dinner, please arrive at Room In The Inn by 5:00 p.m. Be mindful of downtown traffic. We can make arrangements if you need to drop off the meal early.

Sponsored by Main Street Media of Tennessee and NewsChannel 5, the drive simply collects gently used t-shirts to give to Room In The Inn to distribute to homeless people over the long hot summer. Coats are also being collected this year in preparation for colder weather later this year.
These items may be gently used or new, they can be from schools, charity events, brands, concerts, vacation spots, races, etc. The only unacceptable shirts are ones that are lewd or that promote alcohol or drugs.

Bring your donations to church with you on Sundays or drop them off during the week between 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
